Welcome to my portfolio and personal website! As you might've gathered, my name is Colin. I'm a May 2022 graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a B.S. in Media & Cinema Studies and a minor in Communications. Most recently, I started a new job as an Office Administrative Specialist at Joliet Inpatient Treatment Center and previously substitute teaching.
I've worked at the National University of Health Sciences working as their Social Media Specialist where I shot videos and created digital content for the University's marketing channels. In my first full-time job, I quickly realized that I had a lot to learn to get acclimated to transitioning from student to corporate employee. Thankfully my co-workers were patient with their newly arrived Gen-Z staff member; I always felt welcome and I'm gracious for every day spent at NUHS.
Part-time as a Substitute Teacher for Yorkville School District was my landing pad after my brief job search. Teaching provided a workplace with ample responsibility mentoring children not too much younger than me. I learned that I could handle the daily communication required to keep behavior in check without allowing students to derail a lesson meant for all of them I found limited fulfillment in the leadership required across students, fellow teachers, and even other substitutes without possessing the ability to develop long-term projects in the way licensed teacher can.
My goal is to blend the digital content creation skills I've gained with my passion for contributing to the greater good of my community to be an asset to your organization.
